Nuture Photography Winter Finale

I've enjoyed participating in the Nurture Photography Winter Challenge with Kristi and Rebecca over the last four weeks. I've practiced a few new techniques over this time including working with shadows and using low light to add an element of drama to my pictures. I've also used negative space to narrow the focal point and define the subject of my photos. This challenge has gotten me up and out of the house during these cold winter months. It is now March 1st and I am hoping Spring is soon on its way. It's been a long, cold winter and I am more than ready to see some color and warmer temperatures.

Here is a recap of some of my favorites over the last four weeks' challenge:

The challenge has been fun. I've learned a lot from both Kristi and Rebecca through their many tips and tutorials throughout this challenge. As well, it has helped to make these long winter days pass by a little bit faster. Thank you Kristi and Rebecca for all your hard work and time you put forth for these challenges. They are always a great way for me to push my photography skills a little bit farther.

it's Friday! enjoy your weekend!

Happy to See Some Blue

This week has proven to be another crazy week weather-wise. We did have some snow earlier in the week and are expecting another small storm tonight. (Will it ever end?)

Thankfully, we did have a beautiful sunny day yesterday. The sky was an absolutely gorgeous blue and the sun was shining brightly through our windows. I actually took some time and just relaxed in its warmth.

These last two photos are from behind our home.

And as you can see, it doesn't seem to take long for the clouds to move in.

My hope is that, since we are nearing February's end, we will see more blue skies and sunshine in March.

Project 64: Out of the Box | Cornflower Blue

Photobucket

Photobucket

Week 60's color for Project 64 is Cornflower Blue. I looked all over for a match and found it in my daughter's collection of string. She's into making friendship bracelets at the moment. The string can sit without being touched for months at a time, then suddenly she will pick it up again and make a "million" bracelets. She loves wearing most all of them at the same time too. :D hee, hee.

Project 64: Out of the Box | Sky Blue

Photobucket
I thought these beads were a great match for sky blue this week. They are part of my daughter's beading kit. She could spend hours at a time beading bracelets and necklaces.

Swinging into Spring: Pacific Blue.

I had a difficult time finding something to match this week's color. Then, suddenly the temperature warmed up, the rain stopped and it was sunny. I realized the girls' swings were a pretty close match. As I made my way out in my flip-flops (yay!), I quickly realized I should have worn my rainboots instead. After "unsticking" my flippies from the mud a few too many times, I ended up with this pic. :D

Head on over to Project 64 and check out some of the other submissions for Pacific Blue.
